Founders Letter
Dear Friends,
As I move towards my fortieth birthday, I swear it was only yesterday I jumped up and down yelling, “Goody, goody gumdrops!”, and singing:
“Row, row, row your boat,
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream”
– And, oh, how it is!
Ten years ago, I dreamt a dream and quietly put it in a box, shoved it on a shelf, and labelled it “Someday”. Years passed, life carried “merrily” on, and I became a mother to my beautiful little Anna, AKA, Babylicious Butterfly. There is something magical, spiritual, even, about looking at your daughter and seeing a version of your younger self, her eyes still bright and full of wonder.
In her eyes, I felt that intangible nudge, OK – it’s time! It’s time to crawl out of the cocoon you’ve always known and flutter the wings of beauty and potential never before opened.
One of my favourite quotes by the wise Maya Angelou reads:
We delight in the beauty of the butterfly,
But rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve beauty.
To become a butterfly, one must either break out of the cocoon and fly, or remain stagnant, and perish.
I want to be a butterfly.
I choose to fly.
Join me.
What I Believe
We must listen to our intuition, and deafen ourselves to judgement. When a cruel whisper asks who do you think you are? Bravely answer, “I am a girl with a dream.”
Most things are not taught. Children watch with eyes wide-open, but listen with ears half-closed.
Common sense is the most valuable trait one can have, but is hard to find.
Do what you say you are going to do.
Miracles happen every day – just ask the butterfly.
Happy girls really are the prettiest! (That Hepburn chick really knew what she was talking about!)
A poor attitude spoils the most ravishing beauty.
About Me
Goats Unite! I’m a Capricorn, and as sure-footed as one should be.
As a child born and raised on the prairies of Alberta, I used to play make believe that I was Laura Ingalls.
I still play make believe when brainstorming scents and adore their power to create memory, change an mood, and, of course, make us feel beautiful.
Popcorn is my snack of choice (Yummy!).
Lip gloss, oh how I love thee…
I prefer dogs to people.
My main vices are hair dye, chocolate, coffee, and fragrances.
I Am:
